Natural Element Lifestyles – Modern Farmhouse

The farmhouse is one of America’s oldest residential styles. As implied by the name, farmhouses are traditionally located on rural farmland. Characterized by location, the use of large porches, and the distinctly rustic appearance, the farmhouse deftly incorporates “homey” comforts, attractive rustic decor, and functional floor plans that highlight open living areas.
Over the decades, the farmhouse concept hasn’t changed much, but the people wishing to incorporate the style into their own residence has grown tremendously. This is why we’ve recently introduced a brand new home plan collection: Modern Farmhouse. We’re very excited about this collection, and our visitors have shown plenty of interest, too.
In addition to the Modern Farmhouse collection of home plans, we recently completed construction of a model home of the Modern Farmhouse style. Visitors tend to love our new model, because it possesses many features that are in high demand in today’s housing market. The model, based on the Farmhouse Retreat B plan, offers a very economical footprint while allowing for roomy living space and substantial outdoor living area. Though modest in size, the home features everything a small family might need. The plan offers 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms across just under 1,200 square feet. With about 600 square feet of porch and deck space, this Modern Farmhouse offers plenty of area for an outdoor lifestyle.
The Modern Farmhouse often features rustic exterior decor, while offering modern industrial accents on the interior (metals and irons, contemporary fixtures, etc.). The style sometimes incorporates comfortable over-sized furniture and plenty of contrast between colors (black on white or black on red). Modern Farmhouses shine when incorporating antique and reclaimed woods, hand-hewn finishes, and judicious placement of brick and stone.
